Rebuilding the Intellectual Spirit of Nalanda for Modern Learning
Nalanda University, one of the most prestigious and ancient centers of education, was a beacon of knowledge in India from the 5th to the 12th centuries CE. Revered as a global hub for learning, we aim to revive its spirit in modern education.
Key Features and History of Nalanda University
Founded during the Gupta Empire, Nalanda symbolized intellectual excellence, housing over 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers at its peak. It was a thriving center where disciplines like mathematics, astronomy, logic, linguistics, medicine, and philosophy flourished.
The Dharmaganja Library, one of the largest in the ancient world, held thousands of manuscripts. Sadly, Nalanda was destroyed in the 12th century by Bakhtiyar Khilji, marking a tragic end to this historic institution.
Notable Scholars of Nalanda
Aryabhata – Renowned mathematician and astronomer.
Dharmapala – Key figure in making Nalanda a hub for Mahayana Buddhism.
Xuanzang – Chinese traveler and monk who documented his time at Nalanda.

By rebuilding the intellectual spirit of Nalanda, we aim to foster a learning environment that blends its timeless wisdom with modern innovation, shaping enlightened minds for the future.
